Nurturing Meal Times
Mealtimes are a vital source of enjoyment, culture and community. We offer homemade meals three times daily using a menu that residents and their families help plan, keeping in mind the personal preferences of each individual. We encourage residents and their families to contribute recipes to our house cookbooks. All meals are prepared in house, using fresh and local ingredients and the meal experience is enhanced through the use of music, linens and table decor. Meal times and snacks are structured to engage both staff and residents, offering interaction and fun in a family environment. Being sensitive to specific dementia-related nutritional concerns, we develop a preventive-focused nutrition plan for each individual resident to ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
Unique only to our homes, our 4-season, wheelchair accessible, greenhouse offers opportunities to engage residents in horticultural therapy – whether is is a resident who has always loved to garden or one who can benefit from just being in the greenhouse environment itself – residents can enjoy the therapeutic benefits of growing and nurturing plants and taking in the beauty of flowers. Our greenhouse also promotes healthy living as our kitchen utilizes the produce grown in the greenhouse in meal preparation, thus giving our residents the added benefit of fresh, organic produce in their diets!
